Project Updates

Since the project was launched in late 2025, the project team has continued to advance the project design and has now produced a draft layout for the proposed wind farm. The draft layout comprises 7 turbines, each with a maximum blade tip height of 200 metres. It has been developed using a constraints-led approach and informed by on-site surveys, constraints mapping and the public consultation carried out to date.

At this stage of the project, we are seeking feedback from the community on the draft layout. To view the Public Consultation Material that is currently being distributed to homes in the locality of the proposed development please click on the links below:

In 2024, BnM and SSE Renewables, two leading low-carbon energy providers, announced their formation of a joint venture to develop a series of onshore wind energy projects. This partnership will deliver up to 800MW of new renewable energy generation for Ireland.

As part of this joint venture, BnM and SSE Renewables are proposing to develop a wind farm on Cornafulla Bog located in Co. Roscommon. The proposed wind farm will be known as Cornafulla Wind Farm. As the project is at a very early stage, the proposed number, location and height of turbines have not yet been determined.

The joint venture partnership is fully committed to informing and engaging with you through an active communication programme. As part of this, we have appointed a designated Community Liaison Officer, Shane (087-0665640), to engage with local communities and residents. At this stage of the project, we are seeking feedback from the community on the proposed intention to develop a wind farm on this bog.
